Far-Right Suspect Identified in Deadly 1970 Antisemitic Attack in Germany

German investigators announced Thursday that they have identified a far-right suspect believed to be responsible for a notorious 1970 arson attack on a Jewish center in Munich that killed seven Holocaust survivors.

According to police and prosecutors in Munich, the suspect was 25 years old at the time of the attack but died in 2020. His identity came to light after the case was reopened last year when a witness came forward with new evidence.

The attack, which took place decades ago, remains one of the most notorious acts of antisemitic violence in postwar Germany, and the identification marks a significant development in a case that had gone unsolved for over 50 years.
