JERUSALEM — Israel’s military reported early Thursday that its air defenses responded to waves of Iranian missile fire, including at least two attacks that followed a televised address by US President Donald Trump about the ongoing war.

Police said officers were called to several impact sites in central Israel, with local media putting the number at nine. Four people sustained light wounds in the Tel Aviv area, according to medics. Israeli media attributed damage across a relatively wide area to the use of cluster munitions, which explode mid-air and scatter smaller bomblets. Iran and Israel have previously accused each other of using such weapons.

Within six hours of the first attack, the military announced it had again identified missiles launched from Iran toward Israel, triggering air raid sirens across much of northern and central Israel. The Home Front Command later permitted residents to leave protected spaces nationwide. No casualties or damage were immediately reported from the later strikes.

On Wednesday, as Jewish Israelis prepared for the Passover holiday, emergency services said Iranian missile fire wounded 14 people, including an 11-year-old girl.

In northern Israel, air raid sirens also warned of incoming attacks from Lebanon. Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group that joined the war on March 2, claimed responsibility for rocket fire targeting Israeli troops near the border and a drone attack on a village. No casualties or damage were reported from those incidents.
