MADINAH – The Saudi Red Crescent Authority is leading an integrated health ecosystem designed to enhance emergency response efficiency and deliver advanced medical services to pilgrims and visitors at the Prophet’s Mosque and surrounding central areas.
The authority operates through a coordinated network spanning 17 health entities from government, private, and non-profit sectors, creating seamless collaboration across traditionally separate medical organizations. Ambulance teams positioned throughout the mosque, its courtyards, and nearby areas provide on-site emergency care and primary medical support while coordinating case transfers to hospitals and health centers.
The deployment strategy employs foot patrols, positioning points, and ambulance centers strategically located to ensure rapid response in crowded environments. Teams are equipped with modern, lightweight medical equipment that enables quick interventions without disrupting crowds during high-attendance periods.
Continuous coordination between the Red Crescent and participating health institutions ensures service readiness and timely patient care. The integrated approach allows rapid escalation of serious cases from the mosque to specialized facilities while maintaining quality care throughout the transfer process.
This ecosystem model demonstrates how health systems can function cohesively during high-volume periods.
