Saudia Claims Top Spot in Global Airline Punctuality Rankings for May

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s national airline, Saudia, ranked first worldwide for both departure and arrival punctuality in May, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium.

The carrier posted an on‑time departure rate of 92.30 percent and an on‑time arrival rate of 90.12 percent across more than 13,600 flights to over 100 destinations on four continents. The achievement came during one of the busiest travel periods of the year, overlapping with the Hajj season and the Eid Al‑Adha holiday.

This is the second major operational recognition for Saudia in 2025. In January, Cirium ranked the airline as the world’s second‑most punctual carrier for arrivals for the full year 2025, marking its second consecutive year among the top two.

Saudia attributed the performance to coordination across the Saudia Group, advanced flight management systems, and continued investments in operational planning. The airline is preparing for significant growth, with 116 new aircraft scheduled to join its current fleet of 149.

Beyond punctuality, Saudia has played a key role in Saudi Arabia’s tourism push under Vision 2030, helping bring about 27 million visitors to the Kingdom last year in partnership with the Saudi Tourism Authority.
