UAE Marriage Contract Online Application: Everything You Need to Know
DUBAI — Couples planning to get married in the UAE can now complete most of the marriage contract application process online through the Ministry of Justice’s electronic marriage contracts system.
The smart platform, available across all federal Sharia courts, enables users to submit applications, book appointments with marriage officiants, pay fees electronically, and receive a digital copy of the approved contract by email. The system allows marriage officiants to complete procedures digitally, eliminating paper-based transactions.
How to apply
Applicants can complete the process by visiting the Ministry of Justice website, selecting the Electronic Marriage Contracts System, logging in with UAE Pass, entering the details of both spouses and witnesses, uploading required documents, submitting the application, and paying the service fee.
The application is reviewed by a marriage officiant, who obtains signatures from all parties. After verification, it is submitted to a judge for approval. Once approved, an electronic copy of the contract is sent to both spouses.
Required documents
Applicants must provide their Emirates ID, a medical examination report, and supporting identity documents. Muslim applicants must also submit identity documents for two witnesses. Non-Muslim applicants must provide a no-objection certificate from the relevant embassy where applicable and a genetic screening certificate.
Eligibility and fees
For non-Muslim civil marriages, both spouses must be at least 21 years old, the marriage must be between a man and a woman, and the wife must not already be in an existing marriage. The federal fee for submitting a marriage contract application is Dh50.
The Ministry of Justice said the integrated system has been rolled out across all federal Sharia courts, allowing users to complete the entire process digitally from start to finish.
