Liverpool Arab Arts Festival 2026 Brings Art, Music, and Culture to the City
DUBAI — The Liverpool Arab Arts Festival has released its 2026 program, featuring music, literature, film, and food across multiple venues from July 17.
The festival opens with Yemen’s Al-Awhadel Band, led by oud player Yaser Awdhali, performing traditional music at St. George’s Hall Concert Room. On July 18, Sudanese culture takes center stage at The Black-E with the Sudanese Culinary Arts and Literature event, featuring food archivist Omer Al-Tijani, author of “The Sudanese Kitchen,” alongside storytelling and art.
The festival continues its partnership with At the Library on July 19 for a family program screening four short animated films from Palestine, Algeria, Egypt, and Lebanon under the title “A Journey Home.” The screenings will be followed by “Map Without Borders!,” an interactive workshop exploring memory and identity through drawing, storytelling, and traditional shadow puppetry.
Afrah Qassim, chair of the festival, said the theme examines what home truly means for communities living abroad while others face war, displacement, and injustice. The program reflects the festival’s commitment to creating space for reflection and conversation through Arab arts and culture.
