ADIB Improves Customer Security with Visa Threat Intelligence Technology

DUBAI — Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank has become the first bank globally to deploy the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform, integrating the system into its fraud prevention framework to strengthen customer protection against cyber threats.

The platform combines payment fraud intelligence with cyber intelligence, enabling faster detection of emerging risks and more effective fraud prevention before financial losses occur. It provides ADIB’s cybersecurity, fraud, and risk teams with real-time visibility into threats through tailored intelligence for the financial services sector.

Amit Malhotra, Global Head of Retail Banking at ADIB, said the adoption reflects the bank’s commitment to delivering a secure and trusted banking experience. “By strengthening our ability to identify payment risks earlier and respond more effectively, we are enhancing customer protection while supporting a resilient and seamless digital banking journey,” he said.

Visa blocks approximately 90 million cyberattacks and 11 million phishing emails each month across more than 200 countries. The platform, developed by Visa’s defence operations team, brings the same intelligence used to defend the world’s largest payment network to clients.

Salima Gutieva, Visa’s Vice President and Country Manager for the UAE, said the early adoption highlights the strong collaboration needed to advance the UAE’s vision for a secure and inclusive payments ecosystem. Walter Lironi, Senior Vice President for CEMEA at Visa, noted that cyberattacks are becoming more frequent and targeted, and that combining cyber and payments intelligence helps financial institutions see threats sooner.

The implementation builds on ADIB’s long-standing collaboration with Visa and supports the UAE’s broader strategy for a secure digital economy.
