No Cab, no Bus, no Necessity New bridge connects Etihad Rail to Dubai Metro

No Cab, no Bus, no Necessity New bridge connects Etihad Rail to Dubai Metro

Etihad Rail’s Dubai Al Yalayis Station is now easily accessible to Dubai Metro passengers by a new pedestrian bridge at Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station.

The bridge opened on Thursday, giving Metro Red Line passengers a car-free connection to Etihad Rail services to Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. Previously, travellers commuting between the two stations had to use the Etihad Rail shuttle bus from alongside the Metro station.

The new link is not replacing the shuttle service. But it gives passengers a choice: walk across the bridge or take the bus, especially handy for people carrying luggage, travelling with children, or not willing to make the walk.

Passengers will not have to step onto the surrounding roadways, schedule a taxi, or move outdoors to reach the bridge. It also connects three modes of public transit in one place. The Dubai Metro, RTA buses and Etihad Rail.

The interchange still carries the RTA bus stop outside the Metro station where bus passengers can alight near the bridge and board toward Etihad Rail. Travellers coming by train from Abu Dhabi or Fujairah can just walk across to Jumeirah Golf Estates and continue their journey on the Red Line.

Passenger services started at Dubai Al Yalayis Station on September 30, connecting Dubai to Etihad Rail’s inter-emirate network. But the pedestrian bridge was the only way to reach the station.
