Paris Court Grants Kim Kardashian €1 Compensation for 2016 Robbery

A Paris court awarded Kim Kardashian one euro in compensation on Tuesday for the armed robbery she suffered in the French capital back in 2016, the exact amount she had requested, according to a lawyer involved in the case.

The ruling comes roughly a year after the same court found eight people guilty over their roles in the heist, an ordeal Kardashian has described as the most terrifying experience of her life. In a joint statement with her stylist Simone Harouche issued Tuesday, Kardashian expressed gratitude toward the French justice system, saying the experience was deeply traumatic and its impact has stayed with them, and that the ruling was less about the money than about accountability and recognition. The two added that they hope to move forward and continue healing.

The court also awarded Harouche, who was present during the robbery, the same symbolic one euro she had requested. A former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, where Kardashian was staying at the time, was awarded 109,516 euros after his lawyer said he had sought more than five times that amount for the trauma he experienced during the October 2016 jewel heist, which took place during Paris Fashion Week. His lawyer called the decision a victory. The hotel itself was awarded 50,000 euros.

During the 2016 robbery, two men disguised as police officers forced their way into Kardashian’s suite, restrained her with zip ties and tape, and stole more than six million dollars in jewelry, including a diamond ring she had worn to a Givenchy show earlier that night. The mostly elderly group of robbers, several of them in their sixties and seventies at the time of trial, became known in France as the grandpa robbers. None returned to prison after their conviction, having already served time in pretrial detention, and none appealed the verdict.

After the guilty verdicts were handed down, Kardashian said she was deeply grateful to French authorities for pursuing justice, describing the crime as the most terrifying experience of her life and one that left a lasting impact on her and her family, while expressing hope for healing and a continued commitment to advocating for a fair legal system.
