Rather than replacing the fibre-optic cables and 5G towers already handling most of the UAE’s connectivity, Starlink is arriving as an additional layer on top of that existing infrastructure. This marks the UAE’s first experience with internet delivered directly from a constellation of satellites orbiting close to Earth, rather than through underground cables or nearby towers.
Under its new license, Starlink can serve several different types of customers: everyday residents seeking a backup or primary home connection, businesses operating in remote sites, construction projects, or offices with unreliable fibre coverage, government entities looking to strengthen digital infrastructure and emergency response capability, maritime operators needing connectivity at sea, and aviation providers supporting in-flight internet services.
Because Starlink’s satellites orbit at a low altitude, the connection is expected to be noticeably faster and less laggy than older satellite internet services — a major reason it has gained traction globally as a genuine alternative or backup to traditional ground-based internet.
On the pricing side, residential plans cost AED 300 per month, including unlimited data and a 30-day trial period to test the service before committing fully. Hardware starts at AED 1,465, which includes one Router 3 (Wi-Fi 6), so customers receive a complete Wi-Fi setup rather than just a satellite dish. At checkout, an AED 300 deposit is charged upfront, though this isn’t an additional cost — it’s later deducted from the total price of the Starlink kit. Speeds are advertised at up to 400+ Mbps, enough for HD streaming, video calls, and general household or small-office use.
Placing a pre-order is straightforward and requires no complicated paperwork. Start by visiting the official Starlink UAE website and selecting “Get Started.” Enter your location so the system can check service availability in your area. Once redirected to the pre-order page, review the specifications covering what’s included with the service and hardware, then proceed to checkout. Fill in your personal details, shipping address, and payment information, and review the cost breakdown shown on the page — currently, only an AED 285.71 deposit is required at checkout, with the remaining balance due later.
One important detail to keep in mind: Starlink hasn’t provided a specific delivery timeline yet. The company has stated on its website that it cannot currently offer an estimated timeframe for service availability, though its teams are working to expand capacity across the satellite constellation to reach more customers worldwide.
