Qatar Permits Drone Flights in Designated Areas at Approved Times
  • PublishedOctober 2, 2026

Qatar has allowed the use of drones in designated areas during specific hours. The Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and other relevant authorities, said the unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) will be permitted in designated areas, effective from Tuesday.

Drones Allowed During Two Daily Time Slots

Under the new agreement, drone operators can fly their devices during two periods each day. The first permitted period runs from sunrise until 9 am, while the second is from 2 pm until sunset, which will be identified through the Metrash app.

The authorities have urged users to operate drones only within the designated areas and during the approved hours. If someone violates the permitted operating timing or zones, the authorities can take strict action.

Months Of Drone Restrictions Are Now Lifted By Qatar

The recent steps taken by Qatar authorities come after the ban on drone operations across the country in March amid US-Iran confrontation.

Under this ban, the use, operation, and flying of drones were banned in Qatar.

Now, with the partial reopening of drone activity, authorities have allowed UAVs to operate in designated locations but only during the recommended hours, and have also asked them to follow the rules. This includes checking the Metrash app to find authorised flying locations before someone operates a drone, and the drones must match the specific licensing and purpose for which they are registered.
