Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a senior delegation from the World Economic Forum (WEF) headed by Alois Zwinggi, President and CEO of the Forum and Chair of the yearly meetings of the Global Future Councils, and discussed cooperation in sustainability, technology and economic development ahead of Davos 2027. DEWA was represented at the meeting by Eng.

Al Tayer evaluated Dubai Renewable Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aims to produce 100 per cent renewable energy by 2050. To support this, DEWA’s flagship project is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. The park is expected to reach over 8,000 MW by 2030, up from an initial aim of 5,000 MW, helping cut carbon emissions by more than 8.5 million tonnes a year, up from an earlier target of 6.5 million tonnes.

Meanwhile, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has converted 16 of its 21 services to agentic artificial intelligence (AI) enabled services in under 90 days or 76 per cent of its overall service portfolio. The other five services are planned for completion in the next two months.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said, “In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, DEWA continues to push forward the use of agentic AI across its operations. Dewa is one of the first government institutions in the UAE to implement the technology at this level, he added, transitioning from AI models that assist users and offer information to systems that can autonomously perform end-to-end tasks and operations.
