Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah) said the 45 per cent growth in foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in the emirate in 2025 reflects the competitiveness of the UAE economy. In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Musharrkh talked about the major changes in the global economy and Sharjah’s economic readiness, as the emirate is preparing to host the ninth Sharjah Investment Forum in partnership with the Ministry of Investment, on October 14 and 15 at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre.

The forum, which will be held under the theme “Building Adaptive Economies”, will convene more than 80 speakers, including ministers, investors, entrepreneurs, experts and decision-makers from around the world to discuss the transformations reshaping the business and investment landscape and how to build businesses and economies that are better able to adapt to change and achieve sustainable development. The CEO of Invest in Sharjah stated that the attractiveness of the UAE economy is based on four fundamental foundations.

The first is economic diversification and the distribution of growth drivers, with non-oil activities accounting for 79.4% of the economy in Q1 2026, driven by financial services, construction, healthcare and telecommunications, offering investors an economy able to sustain growth across different cycles.

He noted the second pillar is a market-compliant legislative ecology. The UAE was ranked first in the world in the Adaptability of Government Policy and Bureaucracy, and fourth in Legal and Regulatory Framework,” he added, adding that the rankings are based on the real experience of investors in setting up, operating and expanding their enterprises.

People are the third pillar, Al Musharrkh said, adding that talent is the foundation of a knowledge economy, and the UAE has made attracting and empowering talent an official policy.
