Meta Develops ‘Luna’ Smart Glasses Without Cameras Ahead of Fall Launch
Meta is preparing to launch a camera-free pair of smart glasses, internally code-named Luna, this fall, according to a report from The Information citing people familiar with the matter. The move comes as smart glasses more broadly have faced growing scrutiny over their built-in recording capabilities.
The new model is said to feature six built-in microphones, allowing wearers to talk with Meta’s assistant and with Muse, the company’s newly launched consumer agent, without needing a camera onboard. A side button lets users quickly activate the assistant, and the glasses reportedly carry speakers similar to those found in Meta’s current lineup.
Meta is expected to unveil the glasses at its annual Connect developer conference next Wednesday and Thursday, with shipments targeted for October, the report said. Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
