Tinder Introduces More Events to Boost Gen Z Engagement

NEW YORK — Tinder is expanding its in-app Events feature to nine additional cities following a successful pilot in Los Angeles, as the dating platform looks to engage users through real-life shared experiences.

Events connects users with local in-person gatherings organized by independent parties. Since the feature launched in March, over 60 events drew engagement from 66 percent of all eligible and active users in the Los Angeles market, according to the company.

The feature focuses on group activities rather than one-on-one dates, reflecting a cultural shift toward shared experiences. During the pilot, 71 percent of users between 18 and 24 engaged with events, compared to 63 percent of users 25 and older, signaling strong resonance with the target demographic. Events centered around activities like pottery proved most popular.

The rollout is supported by a multichannel marketing campaign spanning creator partnerships, social media, and out-of-home placements including Bedford Ave Station in New York City. Events is now available in Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Berlin, Munich, Zurich, and Geneva, with plans to expand to 26 cities by the end of September.

Users can browse events in a dedicated tab, mark their interest, purchase tickets, and receive a special profile badge after check-in. Photo verification is required for full access.

The expansion comes as Tinder works to reverse a lengthy streak of monthly active user declines. The platform saw a 7 percent year-over-year decline in March, the slowest rate in 31 months, according to Match Group CEO Spencer Rascoff.

“Going to an event with friends or meeting around a shared interest makes dating feel less intimidating and more fun,” said Tinder Chief Product Officer Mark Kantor. “That’s exactly the kind of experience that keeps Tinder at the center of how people meet.”
