Palestine Film Institute Reveals Powerful Lineup for Sheffield DocFest
DUBAI — The Palestine Film Institute has unveiled the filmmakers and work‑in‑progress projects to be showcased at this year’s Sheffield DocFest, spotlighting stories of identity, memory, and resistance.
The annual PFI Showcase takes place on June 13 at the festival’s Creative Lounge in Sheffield, England, in collaboration with Sheffield DocFest and supported by the British Council.
Among the selected projects:

“Different Colors of Sabir” (Palestine‑Italy) Directed by Safaa Khatib. Follows the director as she documents her family after her father, a Palestinian political figure from the Galilee, is convicted of incitement charges.

“The Story We Broke” (US‑Jordan) Directed by Gaia Caramazza and Jude Taha. Centers on a Palestinian journalist at Columbia University balancing objectivity with identity while covering a student movement.

“Unboxing Gaza” Directed by Marta Miskaryan. A Palestinian artist uncovers his grandfather’s forgotten photo archive from 1940s Gaza, preserving a city’s memory.
Filmmaker Saeed Taji Farouky, a PFI member, said Sheffield’s history of radical solidarity gives the showcase special meaning. “Sheffield is the perfect partner to build up the Palestinian film industry with us,” he told Deadline.
Additional Palestinian projects appear across the festival, including Yasmin Fedda’s “To Make Things Grow” (MeetMarket) and completed films “Life Support,” “Landscapes of Memory,” and “American Doctor.”
Sheffield DocFest runs June 10‑15.
