Fourth Suspect Arrested by UK Police in Jewish Ambulance Attack Case
  • PublishedApril 4, 2026

British police have arrested a fourth person in connection with a deliberate fire attack on Jewish community ambulances, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to four as the investigation intensifies.

The Attack

On March 23, four ambulances belonging to Hatzola, a volunteer Jewish emergency service, were torched while parked near a synagogue in Golders Green, north London. The fires caused explosions in gas cylinders on the vehicles, shattering windows in the surrounding area. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack at the time, calling it a “deeply shocking antisemitic arson attack.”

The Suspects

Three men have already been charged with arson with intent to damage property and recklessly endangering life:

  • Hamza Iqbal, 20
  • Rehan Khan, 19
  • A 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons

Two are British nationals, while one holds dual British-Pakistani citizenship. All three have been remanded in custody, with the minor held in youth detention accommodation.

A fourth suspect was arrested Saturday morning at the London court where the three charged men were appearing. The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed police believe four people were directly involved in carrying out the attack.

International Dimensions

A militant group claiming Iran alignment has reportedly claimed responsibility for the assault. Counter-terrorism officers are leading the investigation, though the incident has not yet been classified as terrorism.

Rising Antisemitism

The attack reflects a troubling trend in Britain. Since October 2023, incidents targeting Jewish people and institutions have increased significantly, according to police data and community organizations.

Hatzola works alongside Britain’s National Health Service, primarily serving the Orthodox Jewish community through volunteer emergency response services.
