Saudi PIF-Linked Humain Hands AI Data Center Development to MIS
In a significant move to cement its technological ambitions, Saudi Arabia’s artificial intelligence company, Humain—backed by the powerful Public Investment Fund—has awarded a major contract to design and build a dedicated AI data center. The project, entrusted to Al Moammar Information Systems Co., represents a colossal investment, signaling the Kingdom’s serious commitment to becoming a regional leader in advanced computing.
According to a filing on the Tadawul stock exchange, MIS disclosed that the project’s value exceeds 155 percent of its total revenues for 2024. With the company reporting annual revenues of SR1.21 billion ($320 million), the contract is valued at approximately SR1.88 billion—a transformative sum for the contractor and a bold statement of intent for the sector.
A Cornerstone of Vision 2030
This development is a direct stride toward the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a comprehensive plan to diversify the economy and position the Kingdom as a premier technology hub by the end of the decade. The dedicated data center will provide the foundational infrastructure necessary for developing and deploying next-generation artificial intelligence technologies.
The contract, expected to be formally signed in February 2026, specifies that MIS will handle the complete design and construction of a private, AI-focused data center for Humain. The filing confirmed that the agreement does not involve any related parties.
Building a Collaborative Ecosystem
This award is the latest in a series of strategic partnerships for Humain. Earlier this month, the company joined forces with Saudi Telecom Co. to launch a joint venture dedicated to developing and operating AI data centers. In that venture, Humain will hold a controlling 51 percent stake, with stc owning 49 percent. The physical development will be managed through stc’s infrastructure subsidiary, center3.
Plans for these facilities are formidable, featuring advanced infrastructure designed to support up to 1 gigawatt of power. The development will begin with an initial capacity of 250 megawatts, scalable based on growing market demand.
A Nation on the Rise in AI
Saudi Arabia’s focused investments appear to be yielding recognition. Earlier this month, the Saudi Press Agency, citing the Global AI Index, reported that the Kingdom now ranks fifth globally and first in the Arab region for growth in the AI sector. This ranking is seen as a direct reflection of the progress fueled by the nation’s economic diversification strategy.
In a separate announcement underscoring the sector’s activity, MIS also revealed a SR114.43 million contract with the Saudi Central Bank to renew IT systems support licenses for 36 months, with the financial impact expected in the coming quarter.
The Humain data center contract is more than a construction project; it is a critical piece of infrastructure in Saudi Arabia’s blueprint for a digital future. By investing in the physical backbone required for intensive computing, the Kingdom is laying the groundwork to not just adopt, but actively shape, the technological landscape of the coming decades.
