Ankara Confirms NATO Patriot Missile Deployment at Key Air Base
Turkey’s defense ministry confirmed Wednesday that NATO is deploying a new Patriot missile battery at Incirlik air base, strengthening air defense capabilities at the strategic southern facility.
The deployment adds to the existing Spanish Patriot system already positioned at the base near Adana in southern Turkey. The timing comes just days after air defense systems intercepted a third ballistic missile launched from Iran toward the region.
The move reflects NATO’s efforts to bolster air defenses across member states facing Iranian missile threats. Incirlik, one of NATO’s most critical air bases, has served as a key hub for regional operations and hosts forces from multiple allied nations.
The additional Patriot system enhances Turkey’s capacity to defend against incoming aircraft and missiles, addressing heightened security concerns in the eastern Mediterranean region amid the ongoing regional conflict.
