Tunisia’s state grains agency has issued an international tender to purchase about 100,000 metric tons of durum wheat, European traders said Thursday.

The origin of the wheat is optional, and the deadline for submitting price offers is Friday, October 2. The durum is being sought in four separate 25,000-ton consignments. Shipment windows vary by source: between November 5 and December 25 for wheat sourced from the Black Sea region, eastern Europe or the Mediterranean; between November 1 and December 20 for western European supplies; and between October 25 and December 15 if sourced from the United States, Canada or South America.

Traders said the agency repeated earlier warnings that its purchases come from optional origins. For sellers offering Black Sea grain, the agency has specified that suppliers may not invoke force majeure under any circumstances due to ongoing disruptions tied to Russia’s war in Ukraine, and must instead source grain from alternative origins if Black Sea supplies become unavailable.
